Bobby Rush

The ever unpredictable bluesman Bobby Rush combined wild funk and modern flair on more than 20 albums in his 50-plus year career. The Homer, La., native gigged his way through the Chicago blues scene and learned the ropes alongside Freddie King and Luther Allison. He now dabbles in contemporary urban sounds and dirty Southern soul with harmonica close in hand. His concert at the Ogden Museum's Ogden After Hours is sponsored by the Ponderosa Stomp, which hosts its annual between-Jazz-Fest-weekend shows Tuesday and Wednesday (April 28-29) at the House of Blues. This year's Stomp concerts include a host of legendary blues, R&B and rock 'n' roll legends, underdogs and one-hit wonders including Howard Tate, Wanda Jackson, Otis Clay, the Remains and ? & the Mysterians. There are panel discussions with musicians during the day at the Cabildo (701 Chartres St.) Monday through Wednesday, April 27-29. Visit for a full list of events. Tickets $10, free for Ogden members.
