The 377th Theater Sustainment Command

received the Superior Unit Award from the U.S. Army at a ceremony April 13 at the National World War II museum. The Belle Chasse-based command, the U.S. Army Reserve's largest, was honored for its help delivering humanitarian aid to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. The command maintains 36,000 Army reservists in 400 units throughout 34 states.

Bivian "Sonny" Lee III

received the 2013 FBI Director's Community Leadership Award from FBI Director James Comey at a ceremony April 4. Lee was recognized for his work to help fatherless young men through his organization Son of a Saint, founded in 2011 for children ages 9 to 18. Since 1990, the annual award has recognized community leaders representing each FBI field office.

The Rau for Art Foundation

awarded three local high school students college scholarships as part of M.S. Rau Antiques' foundation scholarship contest. John Ehret High School's Sonja Nguyen was awarded first place and $7,500. Twelve finalists were selected for their artworks using the theme "Express Yourself." Their work is on display at M.S. Rau Antiques through May 19.

Kendall T. Anderson,

owner of Anderson Iron Works in Duson, La., pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court April 14 to a scheme that awarded his construction company contracts from the Opelousas Housing Authority. According to the feds, Anderson ignored competitive bid policies on construction projects and conspired with a former Housing Authority employee to award work to his company from 2007 to 2009. Anderson faces up to three years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
