Jim Henderson

will be honored by the Southeast Louisiana Council of the Boy Scouts of America at its Golden Eagle luncheon Tuesday, April 10, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside hotel. Henderson retired earlier this year after more than three decades as the sports director at WWL-TV — but, luckily for us, he remains the play-by-play broadcaster for New Orleans Saints radio broadcasts.

Jason Berry,

local author and occasional Gambit contributor, won the 2011 Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) Book Award for his book Render Unto Rome: The Secret Life of Money in the Catholic Church, which chronicled the finances of the church in America and abroad. The IRE also honored WVUE-TV with a Broadcast Journalism Award for the station's eight-month investigation into former Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Jiff Hingle.

Gregg Williams,

former defensive coach of the New Orleans Saints, urged players to take out opponents' ACLs and commit other foul plays, as heard on a locker room tape made public this week. News of Williams' blustering exhortations can do nothing but hurt the Black and Gold as they attempt to repair their reputations from the bounty scandal.

was directly or indirectly responsible for a "guerrilla marketing" campaign that saw more than 100 Coke advertisements stenciled onto French Quarter and CBD sidewalks during the Final Four weekend. Coke claimed the vandalism was the work of a rogue ad agency subcontractor that had stenciled sidewalks without permission, but Coke refused to name the agency. The graffiti was pressure-washed away after public outrage. A spokesman for Mayor Mitch Landrieu said the city was not ruling out legal action.
