Re: “What is the history of the Claiborne Towers?

I remember when it was Delta Towers as well. I had so many good memories associated with the building as Claiborne Towers that I hated to see the name change each time it changed. I did hear the story about how the elderly weren't treated well as far as the place being kept up as it should be and then getting short notice for having to move. It's been a long time and I don't remember details of that; I knew nobody associated with it then.

Re: “What is the history of the Claiborne Towers?

This is sad for me. I have MANY good memories attached to that building. My husband and I transferred from Boeing in Seattle to Boeing in this building in 1962 to work on the Saturn V program. I met my lifelong best friend there that year. We even lived in an apartment there for a short while and I used their 17 floors of stairs for exercise back then. Those were the days of driving my '64 red T-Bird convertible and parking it in the garage next door or else riding the bus from Canal Blvd and Harrison Ave. to the cemeteries where we changed to the streetcars. One day in that building I ran around a corner in the office and right into Werhner von Braun's chest. What good memories those were for so many different reasons. Yes, it hurt to see the condition of the building for many years now and yet it always brought back lots of memories of good friends and my young years! I'll miss you, Claiborne Towers!
