Celebrate Jazz Trio: Rebuild the Soul of America É One Year Later

Wynton Marsalis will perform in another mega-concert to help rebuild New Orleans, this time at the center of a three-day series of events to commemorate the anniversary of Katrina and raise funds for the Rebuild the Soul of America Charitable Trust. Marsalis will be joined at the New Orleans Arena by Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind and Fire, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Kim Burrell and other special guests. Other portions of the schedule include a talent show at Harrah's New Orleans Casino, which is a major co-sponsor for the events, and a joint program to welcome school children back to New Orleans and surrounding parishes. Hosted by Marsalis and Chef Emeril Lagasse, "Cooking with Music" will educate kids about two of the most important elements of local culture: jazz and cooking (contact the Emeril Lagasse Foundation for information on attending the Convention Center event. 212-2222). To raise money for the charitable trust, the Kazanjian Foundation has donated 57 pieces from its collection to the Jewels for Charity auction on eBay. Additional information about events is available on www.celebratejazz.org. Concert tickets $35-$250. -- Will Coviello
