Clockwork Elvis and Reverend Spooky LeStrange's Billion Dollar Baby Dolls

This playful rock-meets-theater gig is set to revive a style of entertainment that was once a veritable D-cup running over with sequins, jewels, capes, elaborate stage shows and sexy, hip-shaking fun -- and there'll be burlesque, too. Ever since titian-haired, tassel-twirler Tempest Storm dated Elvis Presley in the post-Priscilla years, the art of striptease and the King have gone together like feathers and rhinestones. Reverend Spooky LeStrange and her Billion Dollar Baby Dolls are putting on a specially themed show for this gig in tribute to the King of rock 'n' roll to observe the anniversary of his demise. The girls will shelve the raunchy saxophone and Bourbon Street beat, and instead shed their bustiers and boas to an all-Elvis soundtrack, provided live by Clockwork Elvis, New Orleans' most enthusiastic Elvis Presley cover band. The extra twist? The leadsinger dresses like the violent adolescent antihero of Anthony Burgess' novel A Clockwork Orange (as envisioned by Stanley Kubrick's film version) while he faithfully belts out favorites from Presley's '50s and '60s catalog. Tickets $5. --;Alison Fensterstock
