Re: “The Dogfather

BTW Corratodior
They have very real problems that other dogs don't have.
That statement above is simply not true
No breed or type of dog has a particular method of attack or inflicts an exclusive type of injury. Claims that one breed of dog inflicts injuries unlike other breeds have no merit.
From the CDC
.....Each year, 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs. These bites result in approximately 16 fatalities; about 0.0002 percent of the total number of people bitten. These relatively few fatalities offer the only available information about breeds involved in dog bites.

***There is currently no accurate way to identify the number of dogs of a particular breed, and consequently no measure to determine which breeds are more likely to bite or kill.....
That 4.7 million number is extrapolated from a telephone survey done in 1994

"At least 90% of all dog bites are classified as minor bites."

People like you are actually part of the problem.
You promote this nonsense that there are "safe" Breeds and "dangerous" Breeds rather than focusing on education which is the key to reducing dog bites by all Breeds and reducing the extremely rare fatalities by numerous Breeds.(36 Breeds in the U.S. and 52 worldwide I believe)
The majority of dogs of ALL Breeds/types are great companions and will NEVER be a problem.

Re: “The Dogfather

After you look at the collection of media stories at the site dogsbite posted by corratodior have a look at this blog entry

"When a quest for vengeance becomes dangerous"

Read the entire comment by Canine Fatality Investigator Jim Crosby re that site and the author

Here`s a snippet
... The author is not remotely interested in accuracy-I have sent several comments correcting 'facts' from having been on scene-and they never appear......Dogbites is nothing more than a hate fueled site with a clear agenda to warp the truth and destroy a breed of dog based on the authors personal feelings..
Click on Jim Crosby`s name to see his qualifications.

Still think Media Stories are a good source for Info on dog bites?
Dog Bites and the Media

Read Media Bias
"The National Canine Research Council has released its third annual report on the bias shown by the media in reporting fatal dog attacks by dogs alleged to be “pit bulls” versus other less sensationalized breeds."

Thank You for your great work Ken.
Love your books BTW
