Recipes to indulge in before you hit the town.

Key Lime Martini
Tyler’s Beer Garden bartender Alicia Saadati and all her peers serve up this crowd-pleaser at 3841 Orleans Ave.
1 oz. fresh squeezed key lime juice
1 1/2 oz. Ketel One Vodka
.5 oz. cream

Shake and strain into martini glass. Garnish with a lime.

Sweet Georgia Brown
2 oz. Southern Comfort
1/2 cup instant hot chocolate
1 cup milk, divided
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract
3 scoops vanilla ice cream

Heat half the milk until hot, then pour it into a blender. Add instant hot chocolate and blend until all powder has dissolved. Add remaining milk, vanilla extract and peppermint extract. Blend until smooth. Add ice cream and Southern Comfort. Blend again until smooth and pour into glass. Garnish with mint sprigs and serve immediately.

Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s villain-you-love-to-love aren’t the only ones who will enjoy this offering from Polynesian Joe’s (869 Magazine St.).
2 oz. Bacardi O
1/5 oz. sweet and sour
Splash of grenadine

Start with the Bacardi O and your favorite cocktail glass; add sweet and sour. Top off with a splash of colorful grenadine.

Red OPple
2 oz. OP
Splash of apple juice
Splash of Chambard

Mix in a shaker with ice. Serve in a martini glass; float in a thin red apple.

The Pucker Appletini
(this one’s green)
Equal parts Vox vodka and DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker
Shake with ice. Strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with apple slice.

Smart Dog
1 1/2 oz. Smirnoff® Vodka
5 oz. grapefruit juice
1/4 teaspoon salt

Pour into highball glass over ice. Stir well.

Michaul’s Blue Mamou Brew
The specifics of this concoction are a closely held secret, but Michaul’s Live Cajun Music Restaurant (840 St. Charles Ave.) will tell us that it’s 32 oz. of rum, vodka, blue curacao and pineapple served in a souvenir cup.

Southern Punch
3/4 oz. Southern Comfort
3/4 oz. peach schnapps
Orange juice

Fill a tumbler with ice. Add Southern Comfort and schnapps. Fill with orange juice and stir.

Bruno’s Blue Dog
George Rodrigue isn’t the only one with a Blue Dog to brag about. Popular college-hangout Bruno’s (7601 Maple St.) has one of their very own.
1 oz. vodka
1 oz. rum
1/2 oz. blue curacao
1/2 oz. creme de banana
3 oz. orange juice
3 oz. lemon mix

Shake contents and pour over ice in a 16-oz. glass.

1.2 oz. Smirnoff® Vodka
.4 oz. white rum
.4 oz Campari
.4 oz. tequila
.8 oz. peach liqueur
2.4 oz. grapefruit juice
1.6 oz. passionfruit juice
.4 oz. sweet sugar syrup

Blend all ingredients with crushed ice, pour into large cocktail glass, and garnish with cherries.

2 oz. Bacardi O
2 oz. cranberry juice
1 oz. Triple Sec
1/2 oz. lime juice

Garnish with an orange wedge.

Open House Punch
1,750 ml. bottle Southern Comfort
6 oz. lemon juice
3 liters lemon-lime soda
1 6-oz. can frozen lemonade
1 6-oz. can frozen orange juice

Mix Southern Comfort, lemon juice, lemonade and orange juice in punch bowl. Add lemon-lime soda. Float block of ice and garnish with orange and lemon slices. Makes 32 4-oz. servings.

Italian Martini
Equal parts Grey Goose Vodka and Frangelico, served over ice or chilled straight up with a lemon twist.

Twisted Lemonade
1 1/2 oz. Smirnoff® Citrus Twist
3 oz. Lemonade

Garnish with orange.

The Brandy Alexander Freeze
The Steak Knife (888 Harrison Ave.) has served the The Brandy Alexander Freeze for the past 30 years, mostly as a dessert cocktail.
3/4 oz. dark creme de cacao
3/4 oz. brandy
4 oz. ice cream (quality)

Place ingredients in blender. Blend until thickened and smooth. Pour in large martini glass. Garnish with nutmeg.

Orange Crush
Smirnoff® Orange Twist, Triple Sec, orange juice and a splash of 7-Up, served up or on the rocks.
