Flying Pig Cafe on Prytania Street closes

Uptown restaurant shutters after six months

flyingpigcafe.jpg

After a four-month run, the Flying Pig Cafe (4920 Prytania St.) has closed.

The Southern-focused restaurant and bar from husband-and-wife team Rob and Kat Vance opened in September in the building that was the longtime home of sushi spot Kyoto.

The owners originally said they hoped the spot would become a casual neighborhood restaurant serving Southern dishes infused with the Caribbean, Asian and Latin traditions of the Gulf region.

A sign was posted on the front door, thanking patrons for their support and saying, "...due to forces beyond our control, we are now closed."
