A panel of judges names the best baguette in New Orleans. Competitors include Bellegarde Bakery, Breads on Oak, Gracious Bakery, La Boulangerie and Mayhew Bakery. Attendees get samples of baguettes and other breads, cheese, charcuterie and a glass of wine. French master chef Rene Bajeux is the MC. Tickets $20.

Summer Wine Festival

The French American Chamber of Commerce's event features wine and spirits and food from restaurants including Cafe Degas, Cafe NOMA, Maurice French Pastries, Palace Cafe, Reginelli's Pizzeria, Roux Bistro and others. There's music by Harmonouche and Joe Simon's jazz band. Tickets $65, $50 for French American Chamber of Commerce members.

June 5
No Kid Hungry Dinner

New Orleans chefs Nina Compton of Compere Lapin and Michael Gulotta of MoPho and Maypop and Miami's Aaron Brooks of Edge Steak & Bar and Mike Pirolo of Macchialina prepare a multi-course dinner to raise funds for No Kid Hungry, which provides breakfast to hungry schoolchildren. There's a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 7 p.m. Call (202) 649-4357 for information. Tickets $150.
