Food and drink events in New Orleans this week (May 9-15, 2017) 

Crawfish Mambo, NOLA Veggie Fest, Mother's Day brunch

May 13 Crawfish Mambo
11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday
UNO, The Cove, 2000 Lakeshore Drive, (504) 280-2586
The event features crawfish boiling and eating contests and all-you-can-eat crawfish for attendees. Big Sam's Funky Nation, Dash Rip Rock, The Top Cats, Category 6 and Paris Avenue perform. Proceeds benefit the University of New Orleans. Tickets $20 in advance, $30 at the gate.

May 13-14 NOLA Veggie Fest
11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; noon-6 p.m. Sunday
Kingsley House, 1600 Constance St.
The festival includes speakers, food samples, cooking demonstrations, vegetarian speed dating and vendors selling food, books and more. The music lineup features The Tumbling Wheels, Truth Universal, Bakhti Caravan, Burgers N' Fries and others. Visit the website for schedule and details.

May 14 Mother's Day Brunch
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday
Audubon Tea Room, 6500 Magazine St., (504) 212-5301
The brunch buffet includes pepper-crusted beef round, roasted turkey, blackened catfish, beef grillades over cheese grits, Mediterranean orzo, Caesar salad, waffles, omelets, croissants, bananas Foster bread pudding, creme caramel and more. There's a cash bar. Tickets $50/$45 Audubon Institute members, $25 for children/ $22.50 for child members. Mothers receive free admission to Audubon Zoo on Mother's Day.
