Louisiana Sisters Cocktail Competition

6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Wednesday
Southern Food & Beverage Museum, 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., (504) 569-0405
Local bartenders including SoBou's Abigail Gullo, El Guapo's Scot Mattox and Treo's Tyler Chauvin create cocktails with products from Louisiana Sisters, such as spiced olives and pepper jelly. There's food from participating restaurants and music by The Breton Sound. Free admission.

Chili in the Channel

11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday
ReNEW Cultural Arts Academy, 3128 Constance St., (504) 367-3307
The competition features more than 15 local cooks vying for best vegetarian, meat and creative chilis and the audience award. NOLA Brewing beer will be available for purchase. Admission is $5 and includes two samples. Additional samples are $1 each.

Taste of Dillard Cook-off

Noon-5 p.m. Saturday
Dillard University Student Union, 2601 Gentilly
Blvd., (504) 283-8822
Dillard University's Development Office, Ray Charles Program and United Way of Southeast Louisiana host the competition for home cooks, and there are prizes for the best New Orleans, international and vegetarian dishes and dessert. Attendees can sample dishes, and the event also includes non-alcoholic beverages and live music. Proceeds benefit scholarship programs. Regular admission is $35, VIP admission is $75.
