For the Bible Tells Me So

Regardless of how some politicians exploit anti-gay bias for votes or use Minnesota public restrooms, there are many Americans who have reconciled homosexuality with their families and Christian faith. Documentary filmmaker Dan Karslake's award-winning film is about some of those people. Among the newsmakers in the film are Episcopal bishop Gene Robinson (pictured) who has been open about his homosexuality since the '80s, and the family of former House majority leader Richard Gephardt, whose daughter Chrissy is a lesbian. The film explores what the Bible does and doesn't say and how it's been interpreted, but mostly it focuses on families with strong faith who accepted the homosexuality of a child or parent. For the Bible Tells Me So debuted at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and won audience awards at the Seattle and Provincetown festivals. Tickets $7 general admission, $6 students/seniors, $5 Zeitgeist members. " Will Coviello
