Re: “Where was the first H.G. Hill store?

You know the bar I miss the most is Graffinninos on Laurel Street by the Audubon Zoo.. I know I did not spell it right.. but Mrs. Grafinnino used to keep it open in the early eighties just for something to do..
We could go in there and shoot some pool and drink a few beers and then head down the street to Norby's where the old guys would argue about what date that they put up the flag pole by the baseball diamonds at the end of Tchoupitoulas or when was the first time that they swam the Mississippi to prove that they were a man .. and where that they ended up in Algiers after starting at Audubon Zoo.. it was about as much fun as the Tulane and L S U Wheel Barrow races with the people in them after the games.. A lot has changed in that neighborhood... I call it yupification..
Angus Lind used to write about Grafs and going to school and drinking there.. Oh well, Mrs. Graf died and so did Norby.. so I live in Michigan.. but have some great memories about the Audubon Tavern and all.. I used to spray car undercoating on the west side of the big live oak where the cement patch is located to keep the termites out.. I wish someone would do it again..Best Wishes.. Gary Kent Keyes
