Here We Go Magic

Add indie-rock tours to the list of markets cornered by the downtown homo-genius haven known as All Ways Lounge/Marigny Theatre. (To recap, the list includes kissing cowpokes, adult petting zoos and naked boys singing.) This booking of up-and-coming Brooklynite Luke Temple — aka Here We Go Magic — follows the WTUL-sponsored March 6 visit by Crooked Fingers and cements the lounge/theater as a bona fide contender in the new wave of alternative New Orleans music venues. Temple, a Boston art-school grad, has released records under his own name since 2004, but it wasn't until he waved the Magic wand that music mavens started paying attention. Its self-titled debut, issued in February by Western Vinyl, is among the more praised (and praiseworthy) premieres of the young year, full of softly chugging folk/rock and psychedelic ambience. Fellow New Yorkers Callers and locals Hurray For the Riff Raff open. Tickets $5. — Noah Bonaparte Pais
