Huey Lewis & the News with Dash Rip Rock

1980s hitmakers Huey Lewis & the News pair with New Orleans' stalwart rootsy punks Dash Rip Rock for this free outdoor show, which is part of ArenaBowl XXII, the Arena Football League championship taking place Sunday at the New Orleans Arena. Dash Rip Rock released "Let's Go Smoke Some Pot," a now-immortal frat-house party hit, at about the same time that Huey and the boys were climbing the charts with songs like "I Want a New Drug" and "Hip To Be Square." Lewis' track "Power of Love" was also immortalized as a cornerstone of the '80s as the theme song for Michael J. Fox's 1985 blockbuster Back to the Future. Most recently, Dash put out 2007's Hee Haw Hell, a concept album about country music and Satan, and Lewis wrote the title song for the soundtrack to the upcoming film Pineapple Express, which hits theaters in August. Popular cover band the Molly Ringwalds also perform. Free admission. — Alison Fensterstock
