Re: “Gratitude for the Lutheran teens who visited New Orleans

I also was blessed to be a chaperone at the NYG in New Orleans--I doubt that I will ever have the privilege again--but then again when locals wanted to keep us I did promise to be back In fact our church in Groton,SD has a trip down in February 2010. We are hoping to be able to fill a big chartered bus--wouldn't two be even greater???!!! We will be staying at Gethsemane Lutheran in St. Bernard Parish. I am in the process of getting together a truck full of supplies they need just to survive( the bigger the better) as those people have been forgotten by our nation as a whole--our "GREAT GOVERNMENT" for sure These kids are on fire & need our help to make change happen. I thought the dome would off when Bishop Hansen read the letter from President Barack Obama. According to alot of people I encountered what you got was dependent on which political party was in power at the time--what a shame & injustice. We had the privilege of having a 18 year old boy from Brazil with us--0ne night at devotion time the night before we left for home we were all seated in a circle & supposed to listen to the sounds of the city & then share what we saw or learned on our time there. Marcos said that the world looks to America as a model government (our freedoms, lifstyles, etc.) BUT HE WASN'T SEEING THAT HAPPENING IN NO!!! My heart ws just broken because that is the message he will take back to Brazil.
