Irene’s Cuisine to move

Creole-Italian restaurant to move to Bienville Street in 2018

French Quarter restaurant Irene's Cuisine (539 St. Philip St., 504-529-8811) will move to a new home early next year, the restaurant announced this week.

The Creole-Italian eatery will move seven blocks from its longtime home on St. Philip Street. The restaurant's new home, at 529 Bienville St., likely will open "in early 2018," according to a post on the restaurant's Facebook page.

In 2015, NOLA.com reported that the Louisiana State Museum, which owns the building the restaurant occupies, would possibly force its tenant out after its 15-year lease expires in February 2018.

Owner Irene DiPietro opened the Creole-Italian restaurant in 1993 with Tommy Andrade, who went on to open Tommy's Cuisine in the Warehouse District in 2003.
