Re: “I-10: Ten Things to Know in New Orleans this Week (Oct. 25, 2016)

I have low expectations for your counterparts at but did you have to mimic them by using the incorrect aircraft picture in the story "London calling"? Surely there are some stock photos of a BA 787 available as opposed to the Airbus 318 (319?) you chose to use.

Re: “Krewe of Druids' 'EBT Card' float stirs controversy on social media

Irish Lies, comprehension is not your strong suit I see. If you went through the trouble to research my past postings, perhaps you should have taken the time to actually read them. I actually love Nxy and I like Muses. The issue I have had with Muses in the past is the hypocrisy of claiming to be "kid-friendly" while bragging about having those aforementioned dancing groups in their parade. If you want to explain to your kid why women in a dancing group have Spanish moss hanging from their mini-skirt, so be it but average Joe wouldn't consider that appropriate viewing for children. I would equally be surprised to see the Farhad Grotto clown car in Krewe de Vieux.
As for my latest post, how you inferred that it was in support of Druids against Nyx is beyond me (again, that comprehension thing) since I mentioned neither. Mardi Gras isn't about political correctness. At least not the Mardi Gras I know. And perhaps there is more to the story than the average viewer may know.

Reading the comments on social media it's obvious that this city is being gentrified quicker than we thought. Outsiders will never fully grasp our New Orleans culture. I mean, since when is Mardi Gras supposed to be PC?

Re: “Review: CellarDoor

Someone please explain to me the point of a restaurant - not a bar - a restaurant, of having a volume level so high that you walk out hoarse after a meal, ala Peche, Cochon, Borgne, etc.

To me, this is as bad as dining in a restaurant that allows smoking. They're both pollution, just different forms.

Re: “Someone in Muses knows about stickers on d'Etat floats

Say it isn't so!! The captain of Muses has emphatically denied knowing about any of this! Yeah...right.

The Tale of 2 Krewes:
On one side of the doubloon you have a benevolent organization that gives back to the community and also goes out of its way to make a little girl that was treated rudely at their parade happy.

On the other side of the doubloon you have an organization professing to be kid-friendly with vulgar floats and dance groups (Bearded Oysters, Camel Toe Steppers, etc) and now we learn that the same satire they revel in hurts their feelings, so they retaliate by vandalizing a rival krewe's parade/property.

Way to stay classy Muses.

Re: “Review: C&A Seafood

Last time I bought boiled crawfish from there my friend who is Asian swore they were boiled with chili oil. They had a greasy feel to them and were awful in taste.

Re: “Reveling in Recovery: Rex Duke Parade Reviews

Hot Sushi...(like that name!)

"I'm tired of "riders threw plenty of beads" being a factor that might affect the rating. I don't mind encouraging more creative throws, especially handmade ones that prevent Mardi Gras from being nothing but a barrage of "made in China" garbage. But just throwing beads? I think riders feel pressured to throw as much as possible, which leads to armfuls of junky plastic beads filling our streets. I like the flirt. I like the begging. I like a rider pointing right at me and then the sting as the beads fly right into my hands. Now I get a giant wad of beads thrown directly at my head, and more than likely, I'll just let them bounce right off me onto the ground. We need to stop this bead inflation and realize it's quality over quantity!"

you are so right. Look at the ground after 2 parades have passed. Nobody wants to catch the "regular" throws any more. They want specialty items. Now it's as if the riders are feeding catfish in a Mississippi pond, except that the catfish eat all they are thrown!
I think the riders throw too much and it de-values the throws considerably.
Not sure what the answer is...
