Re: “Share the Road

I was riding my bike down Jeff Davis in June, a parked car opened her door as I was passing her vehicle and I was thrown into the street, the glass of her window cut my arm up, my bike's frame, front tire and brake had to be replaced and I wasn't swollen immediately in my legs and chest. The police arrived because a kind woman was driving behind me and saw it and stopped to call 911. I was in complete shock. I gave my statement and a friend picked me up. I revceived a call today from the woman's insurance stated that I am 100% liable and now have to pay almost $4000 for the damage that they say I caused to her car.

I walked away greatful to be alive, I never persued any form of compensation for my injuries, the damamge to my bike or my lost wages. I now have a $250 bill from EMT New Orleans and Progressive is sending this to their litigation department. Is there anyone who can help? Please! I cannot afford this. I have to believe that the law is on the side of the biker here, but I can't find information.
