While the idea of solving poverty with a New Deal type works program sounds like a good and
logical approach, lets face it; we live in a vastly different world than that of 1936-39, for better or worse. A broad and unspecified plan calling for huge sums of money at a time of economic uncertainty with a political agenda attached well, you start to get a picture. Don't get me wrong, I'm from New Orleans. I know we need all of the things this group has outlined for the region. I also get the feeling that misappropriation of funds and a lack of accountability has not been uncommon when it comes to federal funds and the recovery process. Hey, maybe I'm wrong. I'm no expert. What I would like to see is a grand summary of all the federal money that has been allocated to La.,post Katrina, how it has been spent, and the tangible results that have accrued so far. That would be a good way to show their process in comparison to what has gone before, good ,bad, or ugly.
