I think that Jindal has not hid from the race factor, but realizes that it is only as important as you make it. He grew up in Louisiana, went to LSU, and has a lot in common with people that happen to be mostly white. The fact that his skin is darker really is unimportant. He based his whole campaign on his past accomplishments and what he envisions for the future. "Dollar" Bill Jefferson learned the other day that pitting races aginst each other for personal gain does not always work. This time people voted for someone who sounded like he was going to actually get something done, and the fact that he is Vietnamese was not a factor. I think people in Louisiana are more tolerant than we are given credit for sometimes. We just elected 2 minority leaders in recent time who are young, smart and seem to take reform seriously. That is something that anyone can vote for.
