Judith Owen and Harry Shearer's Holiday Sing-along

Welsh songstress Judith Owen (pictured) participated in guitar virtuoso Richard Thompson's wry project "1,000 Years Of Popular Music" which, among other things, placed 13th-century madrigals alongside Britney Spears' work in an exhaustive, witty and extremely thorough best-of list. Her husband, Harry Shearer, the enthusiastic part-time New Orleanian, hasn't done too badly for himself as a professional funny person. (He starred in This Is Spinal Tap, and lends his voice to many characters on The Simpsons.) When the pair gets together for some holiday-themed warbling and wassailing, you can bet it won't be the same old jingling bells. Owen and Shearer plan to roast your chestnuts with their annual sing-along at the CAC, an evening of classic and nontraditional caroling and cheer. Special musical guests include pianists Tom McDermott and David Torkanowsky, sousaphonist Matt Perrine and the elfin vocal trio the Pfister Sisters. Tickets $20 general admission, $18 students, $15 CAC members. — Alison Fensterstock
