KatieBird: Certifiable Crazy Person

The question has become not so much who is hosting a special screening series in 2005 as who isn't, but perhaps the most ambitious (if relatively unknown) programming is coming from The Big Top Gallery space run by the 3 Ring Circus gang. The "Peep Show" series truly goes for the indie-film jugular in showing films on the far reaches of mainstream success -- yet another example that this just might be a more daring film-viewing town than has been previously assumed. The "Peep Show" series continues this week with a screening of writer-director Justin Paul Ritter's KatieBird: Certifiable Crazy Person, a psychological thriller about a woman (Helene Udy) who during a quarrel with her doctor and lover learns about her family history the hard way. This includes a rather complicated relationship with her father, Merl, played by Lee Perkins (who will attend this screening). Tickets $7 general admission, $3 3 Ring Circus members.
