Late Nite Catechism 2

The first Late Nite Catechism (by Maripat Donovan) wowed them in more than 156 cities. Here in New Orleans, that interactive one-woman comedy ran for a startling four years at Le Petit Theatre. So you know somebody was doing something right. That somebody was Amanda Hebert, who played the role of Sister until she was hired away by the national company. They put her on tour. She starred in 60 cities from New York to Los Angeles. Of her performance here, I wrote, "Amanda Hebert holds down the fort, or rather the classroom, with a mixture of belligerence and charm." In Late Nite Catechism 2, the sequel (also by Donovan), Amanda dons the habit once again to browbeat her adult students (the audience, that is). Sister doesn't think you're guilty, she knows you are! In fact, she denounces some new sins for the New Millennium. So get ready to hit your knees and beg forgiveness -- and roll in the aisle with laughter while you're at it. (Thursday's opening-night performance hosted by the Mstic Krewe of Satyricon.) Tickets $31. -- Dalt Wonk
