Re: “New Orleans Summer Camp Guide 2015

I just wanted to share an experience I had with a potential summer camp in case it is listed here or you are thinking about doing so in the future.

I wanted to send my child to the New Orleans Glassworks and Printmaking Studio camp. I have tried to get information the past two years without success and much rudeness. This camp looks amazing so I thought I would try again.

Today was that try. I called yesterday but because it was just after closing the lady named Trish had to go. I understand that. So, I called today and another lady answered the phone and I asked for Trish. She inquired what I wanted with her and I told her I had questions about the camp. She said she could answer them. When I began to ask my first question she said to go to the website to get all the information. I said I was a little old school and would also like to speak to someone. She then began talking to someone in the background on how to instruct me in using the website......I know how to do that!

I have been in the education field for many years. Because of that I have had a background check, been fingerprinted, etc. I was able to ask if they have any type of policy about screening their employees or artisans. She was highly insulted and told me this studio has been in business thirty or twenty five years and this was no place for me and my child. And yes, she hung up on me. I called back twice to say how unprofessional that was and of course it went to voicemail.

I am sure that the artisans that work with the children are great people. I just wanted to know that everyone there had my child and all of the children's best interest at heart. My son has been to many camps and never once has anyone been offended by that question or any other. They treated me with respect and had no trouble communicating with me on the phone. It's a total bummer because it would have been a wonderful experience for my son. He is a great kid. The loss is theirs.

Sincerely yours, Just thought my experience with this studio might
