| The Truckers seem to make annual spring pit stops in New Orleans around Jazz Fest time. The Alabama alt-country rockers released English Oceans in March. At 9 p.m. at the Civic Theatre.

Wed. April 30 | Trumpeter Christian Scott performs a free show at Jazz in the Park. Tysson, the new project by John Michael Rouchell (formerly of MyNameIsJohnMichael) and Organ Grinders open. There's also an art market and kids' stage. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Louis Armstrong Park.

Late-rising soul man and Victim of Love (Daptone) Charles Bradley returns to anchor the second weekend of Jazz Fest, this time paired with Hurray For the Riff Raff, whose lovely ATO debut Small Town Heroes is the secret that got out. At 9 p.m. at One Eyed Jacks.

Thu. May 1 | R&B and neo-soul singer/songwriter John Legend's 2013 release Love in the Future featured the hit "All of Me" and drew the nine-time Grammy Award winner another nomination. At 8 p.m. at Saenger Theatre.

Thu. May 1 | What changed between Perfect Pussy's 2013 EP I Have Lost All Desire For Feeling and April debut LP Say Yes to Love (Captured Tracks)? Not a thing. Fri. May 2 | Former James Brown sideman Maceo Parker, Eric Krasno, Nikki Glaspie, Nigel Hall and the Shady Horns headline a day stacked with all-star lineups and funk and jazz jams. The Headhunters Superjam features Bill Summers, Donald Harrison Jr., Fred Wesley, Karl Denson and others. Noon to 8 p.m. at Mardi Gras World.
