A Streetcar Named Desire
Fri. Oct. 4 | Choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and film and theater director Nancy Meckler worked together to craft Scottish Ballet's version of Tennessee Williams' classic, set to a jazz-inspired score. Its North American premiere is at 8 p.m. at Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts.

D.L. Hughley and Eddie Griffin
Fri. Oct. 4 | Comic D.L. Hughley went from standup appearances on late-night TV to hosting his own CNN show. He currently talks about news and current events on his syndicated afternoon radio show (on KMEZ-FM). Eddie Griffin opens at 8 p.m. at the Saenger Theatre.

Art for Arts' Sake
Sat. Oct. 5 | The annual celebration of visual art features show openings at galleries and museums citywide. A block party on the 300 through 600 blocks of Julia Street features art installations, music and cash bars from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
