Chubby Carrier won the last Grammy for Best Zydeco or Cajun Album before the Recording Academy discontinued the category. Carrier and a host of Acadiana musicians who were nominated or claimed trophies perform at the Jazz and Heritage Foundation's fifth annual Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival. Entertainers include BeauSoleil (which won a Grammy in the folk category in 1997), Terrance Simien (pictured), the Lost Bayou Ramblers and Magnolia Sisters and others. The festival features three stages around the grounds of the Old U.S. Mint. There also are craft and food vendors. The event is part of a trio of festivals, including the Louisiana Seafood Festival, which presents cooking demonstrations in an air-conditioned tent, and the Creole Tomato Festival. The Tomato Festival features cooking demonstrations, panel discussions and a kids area. Free admission. French Market and Old U.S. Mint, 400 Esplanade Ave., 558-6100; or
