M83 at House of Blues

Like David Bowie and Jeff Bridges before him, Anthony Gonzalez is of another world. But the M83 orchestrator is no starman who fell to Earth; he's a wide-eyed Frenchman whose upward looks punch holes in the night sky. Gonzalez's sweeping new-gaze albums may feel as large as the heavens — either side of the 2011 double LP Hurry Up, We're Dreaming (Mute) might have warranted the near-universal admiration it received from fans and critics — yet he plants his ideas in the most human place possible: the simple mind of a child, spilled out in whispered inner monologues that pop up periodically to narrate between all the Peter Gabriel yelps, Milky Way synth swirls and Mike Tyson drum fills, transferring abstract concepts (toad-licking bedtime story "Raconte-Moi Une Histoire") from synapses to supernovas. On 2008's Saturdays = Youth, Gonzalez indulged a lifelong fascination with his formative teenage years, reordering time, space and memory via the choral washes of "Kim & Jessie" and "Graveyard Girl." With the voice-activated laser show of "Midnight City," the long-fuse explosion of "Wait" and the double-barrel blast of "New Map," Hurry Up dreams bigger — not just of where the wild things are, but when. Sun Airway opens. Tickets $30 general admission, $60 balcony seating. — Noah Bonaparte Pais
