Re: “Veganize Me

The Wandering Buddha is awesome. :D

I won't say that there was no research done for this article - there was clearly plenty. But it was... spotty? Hexane is probably in processed vegan foods - just like processed non-vegan foods. It's certainly not vegan-specific.

And as far as Zapp's, why don't y'all just go spend ten minutes in a grocery store reading the backs of the bags? Most of the flavors are vegan, with the exception of maybe two or three that use a milk ingredient. I love Zapp's. (If you're not going to eat anything that has "natural flavors", you basically can't eat anything that comes out of a package. I don't know any vegan who is that strict.)

Now, to the real subject: being vegan in New Orleans. It might look hard to a newcomer. I totally get that. And I don't personally recommend going vegan overnight to anyone, here or anywhere. But I *can* tell you that there are TONS of great vegan options for dining out here!

I have a whole blog about the vegan ongoings in the city, with a directory of well over 40 restaurants and cafes that have great vegan offerings. You can find it here: My list of places to check out grows so fast that I can't even keep up with it, so the directory is expanding all the time.

I don't agree with everything said here, but I do agree with one comment that was made: this article would have been better if Alex had spent some time with local vegans. Come hang out with us Alex! Regardless of what comments might be made on the internet from time to time, we're pretty awesome. :)
