Mid-Summer Mardi Gras

It's not mid-summer or Mardi Gras, but proving that two wrongs do make a right is the Krewe of O.A.K. (Outrageous And Kinky), which rolls out its parade in character and style this weekend. The group bills itself as 'more secretive than the Masonic hierarchy, more powerful than the Bilderbergers." Expect outrageous costumes, the Bearded Oysters marching group (pictured), busts of the Maple Leaf's patron saints and a jovial crowd making its way through the Riverbend and university neighborhoods on their summer pub crawl. The procession gathers at the Maple Leaf Bar, and stops include Carrollton Station and Snake and Jake's, a strut down Maple Street and then back to the Leaf. Marching in the parade is free. — Allison Good
