Re: “Remembering The Warehouse

Thin Lizzie opening for Journey, and stealing the show .... Lead singer Phil Lynott, R.I.P.

Saw the Police at the Warehouse in 1979 or 1980. It was before Sting became this big international cosmopolitan personality and spokesman, the Police were just three great musicians playing reggae-ska influenced Rock-n-Roll, and they were AWESOME. Don't let anyone ever tell you that Sting can't play guitar - he played his bass like a lead guitar in a hair metal group !!!

The Specials opened for them .... 12-15 piece big band. Never forget the lead singer taking a portable microphone and repelling up the support beams, into the rafters 20 feet above the crowd and singing a couple of songs - without losing his fedora hat! Also AWESOME !!!

Great days, I say! What I wouldn't do to go back there - even if I would have to pay the local kids $5.00 to "watch" my car on Tchopitoulas St. while I went to the concert.
