Re: “Scorn on the Bayou: Struggles of Bayou Boogaloo

Geez it sure sucks when my friends fight. I don't know why this rose to the level of a story in Gambit. Seems like it belongs in a gossip column.

If I were an editor, the fact that the court has ruled and that the reporter wasn't able to get both sides of the story would've kept this from being run.

For the record, I'm friends with people on both sides. And, for the record, until this story ran, I was unaware of all the players. That's because, despite the slam job these scorned and vengeful partners have done, I never heard their names mentioned by Jared or anyone else in his circle. So, in my book, score one point for Zeller for being dignified. Minus one to my other friends for turning to the paper when they lost in court.

What's really sad is that this is a small event. It doesn't entail the kind of big bucks that people typically fight over. Now it's a dirty war and Gambit has become the car bomb.

There are so many serious problems facing us in this city that are far more worthy of coverage. This story does not come close to being important to New Orleans.

The big losers in this tawdry battle will be the musicians and the music-loving public. The rest of New Orleans won't even notice. And Gambit should not have paid attention, either.

I sure wish my friends would try harder to get along.
