Re: “BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet

Louisiana is not a culture, it 's a state where many cultures (multiculturalism) were incubated. Having a Louisiana Music Grammy category would be akin to having a category for Texas Music or Mississippi Music, states that can both claim that their own rich multiculturalism spawned a notable music culture and indigenous music genres. Furthermore, the fact is these two music genres share enough common cultural/historical ground to justify combining them: birthplace, language, instrumentation and even shared reperetoire. In addition there are not nearly as many CZ recordings being made as there are rap and hip hop. A governing body of very intelligent, well traveled and experienced recording artists and industry professionals voted to create this category. The Grammy's are 51 years old now so they might being doing a little something right. It's clear he does not understand the process very well. Many people are quick to criticize and it's really just a cop out for their inability to contribute anything positive to an effort that has resulted in progress for this state and its artists.
