Oncology on Canvas, an exhibition of art by people affected by a diagnosis of cancer, will be on 24-hour display all month at Ochsner Medical Center (1514 Jefferson Hwy., first floor Art Walk, 842-3000; www.ochsner.org). The exhibit, sponsored by Lilly pharmaceutical company, is free and open to the public.
The traveling exhibit consists of art made by 19 winners selected from almost 600 entries in 2008 that explore a range of themes from hope to fear to loss and more. The exhibit is touring hospitals, cancer centers and other venues nationwide.
The Oncology on Canvas program, which began in 2004, is now accepting entries for its 2010 competition. Entries of art and narrative may be submitted by cancer patients from the United States and Puerto Rico, their families, friends, caregivers and health care providers, through June 2010.
