Re: “Gambit's endorsements for mayor, city council and other races on the Oct. 14 ballot

Cantrell will make it right to save money and secure our community.
It will take another litigation to against director Maynard and his supervisor Judge A. to protect taxpayers, inmates and unit officers.
Despite the director Maynard has the resources and supports he needs to fulfill the 4 years old consent decree, Inmates continue to suffer grievously and unnecessarily from the uncontrollable, danger, chaotic conditions in OJC that even worse than the periods under Sheriff Gusman's management.
"Safe & secure environment" and "basic human needs" are not exit because violent assaults happen every single day, too few unit officers(50 % shortage) and always had problems during inmate's feed up.

Cost unnecessary thousand dollars to escort injuries inmate to hospital for treatments everyday because 50% short of unit officers and insufficient number of line supervisors to control and supervise inmates effectively.

Director Maynard, chief security Colvin and chief Tidwell have shown no "direct supervision" experiences, have no abilities of "positive rapports", "positive communication" and "positive expectations/self fulfilling prophecy" that are required to carry out inmate behavior management.
It needs experienced unit offices with interpersonal-skills with inmates to carry out inmate behavior management for the high rule-violating behaviors among the inmates housed in OJC( that inmates with mental health problems represent 68 percent of the jail population, compare to only 40% in New York City), to maintain a safe and secure environment for inmates and staff. Yet, the management under director Maynard continue using unfair low wages to recruit unqualified but easy to get "young timid female" thru misleading false ads which describe the annoying , frightening, provocative and extremely dangerous working condition as an easy promising career startup.
(but often ended up a disastrous nightmare and a ruin for the rest of life due to suffering of prison terms, mental or physical disabilities.)

Re: “New Orleans City Council passes resolution to be 'welcoming city' for immigrants and non-English speakers

"This great country is being built by immigrants," Gray said. "For us to not welcome them is for us to be like the man who crosses the bridge then turns around and burns it."
