Re: “Taceaux Loceaux- Taco Trucks

I was glad to see something done about the numerous food trucks on Frenchman St. Besides adding to the problems of parking and traffic safety - crowds blocking the streets so that even fire trucks couldn't pass! - what we, the neighbors, remember most were the loud engines and exhaust of the trucks and garbage and vomit left behind by the clients of these "restaurants on wheels".
All the profit, with none of the responsibility!

Re: “Sounds of Silence: No Live Street Music after 8 p.m.

Here's the thing: most residents, tourists and people in general have nothing against street music. What started out "back in the day" as two or three musicians playing in the Square or on street corners in the Quarter has ballooned into full-sized brass bands (some even with full drum kits) and electrified guitar groups who play on the street. These large groups often begin playing near midnight, especially in the residential areas of Marigny, where families are trying to sleep. As neighborhood groups, we have approached the bands and tried to deal personally with them, but to no avail. In the end, the police had to become involved to help with the "quality of life issue". No one wants to deny the young musicians the right to learn to play, and no one wants to deny the New Orleans tradition of music on the street. But too often, the attitude of the young musicians prevents them from realizing what it takes to be a true citizen. One must reach the middle ground on the way to The Higher Ground...

Re: “Krewe of Barkus Parade

One small but important correction:
one year, the KING was a RESCUE!!
His Royal Highness MANOUCHE MARINO
was elected by unanimous decision,
after having served the year before
as Grand Marshall of the Barkus Parade.
May his small but mighty spirit live on!!

Re: “Five Great Bar Burgers

The only really good bar burgers left town
in the early 80's, when Lu and Charlie's closed.
