Re: “Street appeal: New Orleans life through the lens of Cheryl Gerber

New Orleans, through the constantly shifting lens of hyper-observant Cheryl Gerber, is a pretty vibrant place. But what really stands out here is hearing someone who deals almost exclusively in visuals express herself in words. And how nicely expressed it is. Gerber's New Orleans is a big canvas that constantly re-paints itself. She just makes it her business to be there when the momentary stories of the people of New Orleans are being told. If you want to see a real piece of art, just scroll back a few pages here and look again at the photo called "Hot Pursuit." It's clear evidence that Gerber, the assignment and event photographer, has evolved into Gerber, the street artist. Yeah, I said "artist." That photo, "Hot Pursuit," is a work of art that happened in a fleeing moment, caught only by Gerber. Cheryl Gerber is vigilantly keeping her eyes on our street life, and we thank her.
