The Pirate's Alley Faulkner Society's literary festival features an array of visiting and local writers including novelists, poets, journalists, food writers and others. Writers include Stanley Crouch, who frequently writes about jazz and published a definitive book on Charlie Parker, Moira Crone (What Gets Into Us, The Not Yet), poet/novelist Luis Alberto Urrea (The Devil's Highway, Into the Beautiful North), George Bishop (The Night of the Comet, Letter to My Daughter) mystery writer Julie Smith and former Louisiana Poet Laureate Darrell Bourque (pictured). There's a panel on photography featuring Richard Sexton, who recently released Creole World: Photographs of New Orleans and the Latin Caribbean Sphere. Events include panel discussions on literature, children's books and screenwriting, workshops, music performances, parties and more. Visit the website for details.
