"Here I was in my perfect body, and I wasn't happy at all."

In a time when 91% of women say they hate their bodies, body image activist Taryn Brumfitt sets out on a transnational journey to discover why. Brumfitt, a former bodybuilder, shows through her documentary Embrace that body loathing has grown into a pervasive social problem.

This Saturday, a special screening of Embrace at Mellow Mushroom on Oak Street will raise money to benefit the New Orleans chapter of Girls On The Run, a foundation that gives young girls the guidance and encouragement to take pride in themselves and reject the media message that endlessly insists the hurtful message: you are not enough.

The special screening takes place on the 2nd floor of Mellow Mushroom on Oak Street. VIP($60) tickets get you in at 5:30 p.m. and include reserved seating for the film viewing, along with champagne, food, a swag bag, and a chance to mingle with special guest Ann Mahoney from The Walking Dead. General Admission($25) offers 6:30 p.m. entry and includes food, wine tasting, and a film viewing.

Those who cannot attend but still want to support can make a $25 donation.
