Clocking in at a sharp turning point in pop-cultural history, the Psychedelic Furs' 1981 album Talk Talk Talk captures the proto-English post-punk band in transition as well, from concealed but half-cocked Sax Pistols on 1980's eponymous Columbia debut to the prettified, John Hughes-cast hopeless romantic it played, dutifully but to diminishing returns, as the hairsprayed decade went up in flames. Launching from New Orleans, this 30th anniversary summer tour — in which the Furs, who reunited around Talk Talk Talk's 20th anniversary in 2001, are performing the album from start to finish — holds more promise than the typical LP birthday party, and for reasons other than to hear 55-year-old Richard Butler sneer, "I won't give you flowers/ I just want to sleep with you." (Though that surely is one of them.) Issued in the U.K. and U.S. and then reissued in 2002, Talk Talk Talk has three distinct track lists. Will it be accosting opener "Dumb Waiters" or subliminally dirty stand-in hit "Pretty in Pink" leading off? Originally penultimate lead-in "All of This and Nothing" or intended closer "She is Mine" (bumped to side-A for the American release) to finish? It's the stuff of Furs fans' and record geeks' dreams, two subsets that just happen to overlap. Tickets $26.50. — Noah Bonaparte Pais
