Roemer puts $4M into online venture

Says The Young Turks a power in new media

Former Gov. Buddy Roemer seems to have the production bug. His private equity fund is sinking $4 million into The Young Turks, the online political show hosted by Cenk Uygur. Roemer is a Republican and Uygur a strong leftie (The Young Turks previously aired on MSNBC and Al Gore's Current TV before moving to a dedicated YouTube channel), and while Roemer will sit on the show's advisory board, he'll have no input on its content.

Roemer, who ran a 2012 long-shot presidential campaign as an outsider, said in a statement, "We believe [The Young Turks] will be one of the critical players moving forward in a new media world. They are a lot like me, sometimes wrong but never in doubt."
