   The National Journal reported last week that Rep. Charles Boustany, R-Lafayette, told a GOP women's group in his hometown that he would run for U.S. Sen. David Vitter's position in the 2016 special election if Vitter wins the governor's race this fall. U.S. Rep. John Fleming already has indicated his own interest in the position, and many expect state Treasurer John Kennedy to run as well ...

   New Orleans cycling activists are organizing a bicycle "die-in" at New Orleans City Hall to be held at the July 23 City Council meeting. According to the event's Facebook page, "the cyclist (sic) of New Orleans are sick of seeing our friends and family members dying. It's time to make our voice known." The die-in was organized just days after Ben Gregory, a local artist, was killed on his bicycle in a hit-and-run in the Marigny. It was the fifth bicyclist death so far this year in New Orleans.    A group of local comics led by Paul Oswell and Benjamin Hoffman will roast Gov. Bobby Jindal (in absentia, of course) at AllWays Lounge July 25. It's part of the satirical "Crawfish 2016" campaign, which is running a crustacean for president against the governor. Admission to the comedy show is free, and a percentage of bar sales will benefit the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana ...
