Re: “PRK — it’s not LASIK, and not for everyone

Enjoyed reading this article sooo much. I too had PRK about 3 weeks ago at the hands of the same, very capable surgeon and must say I am totally astonished and elated about my recovery and vision. Like Missy, my first 3 days were filled with non-stop eyeball pain and continuously leaking eyes...on day 4, which was also my first post-op appt, I woke with surprisingly no pain but extreme light sensitivity. I literally ran in and out of Dr. Singer's office away from the light, with shades on to boot. However, when I saw him I gave him a teary eyed hug and a great big thanks as I was already able to read 20/30 after only 4 days!!! My vision has continued to improve, was able to read text and computer clearly at about 10 days post-op. I like to think that my recovery has been of luck as I feel it has progressed exponentially and without any haze, halos or starbursts. Not bad for having -8.5 and -6.5 in the left and right eye respectively. My vision isn't perfect as yet, sometimes far away words on huge billboards are a bit blurry but I can still make them out with a little effort. My next post op is in 10 days and I cannot wait to know just how much my vision has improved since the last visit. I would definitely do it again and would only recommend Dr. Singer if in the New Orleans/surrounding areas. He was compassionate, humorous and very thorough. I am beyond ecstatic and looking forward to the days when I need not make any effort to read far away words on huge billboards and can see the definition of every leaf on every tree.
