When the abuse happened, Paterno was not mandated to report. Not to say that he exercised good judgment, but when the reporting mandate did become law, was he then bound to report the prior incident ex post facto? He did what he, at the time, was legally bound to do. Legally ok, judgmentally seriously impaired. He is too old to be working anyway. He should be playing pickle ball in Boca. If he is not going to be charged or investigated further, our focus and outrage should be centered on the true (alleged, I guess) villains, those who have been brought up on legal charges. That we can deal with. We can't adjudicate moral judgment. That'll come in due time. Sooner for the octagenarians involved
