Ballin's Ltd. (721 Dante St., 891-4502) is holding a trunk show of new clothing designs by Lafayette 148 during regular store hours Jan. 26 through 28.

Big Life Toys , which closed its Magazine Street store because of damage it sustained during Katrina, has moved into Winky's (2038 Magazine St., 568-1020), where it offers the toys, novelties and furnishings for which it has become known. To celebrate the move, shoppers will receive 20 percent off regularly priced items and 50 percent off already reduced sale items between Jan. 30 and Feb. 5.

The Encore Shop (7814 Maple St., 861-9028) consignment store has reduced prices on selected fall and winter merchandise throughout the store, plus the shop has just received a new selection of clothing and accessories appropriate for the weather now. The shop, open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, is operated by Symphony Volunteers Inc, and proceeds benefit the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Hans Luetkemeier Master Gold and Silversmith (3246 Severn Ave., Metairie, 454-1170) is holding its semi-annual silverplating and restoration sale and is offering 20 percent off all silverplating during the month of January. Shoppers also will find a large selection of antique jewelry, emeralds, rubies, diamonds and sapphires.

Ichabod's Clothing and Accessories , which closed its Magazine Street store after Hurricane Katrina, is now offering its custom T-shirts at Funky Monkey (3127 Magazine St., 899-5587). Ichabod's is now located on the men's side of Funky Monkey.

Martin Wine Cellar (714 Elmeer Ave., Metairie, 896-7300; 2895 Hwy. 190, Mandeville, 985-951-8081; opens a new satellite store Uptown this week at 3500 Magazine St., which will sell wine, spirits, gourmet foods and chocolates. The store will fill a gap left by the closing of its Baronne Street store and deli following Hurricane Katrina.

Plum (5430 Magazine St., 897-3388) and Savvy Gourmet (4519 Magazine St., 895-2665) are selling a line of T-shirts designed by local graphic designer David Caruso to benefit Tales of the Cocktail, a dining and drinking event scheduled for July. The event is produced by the nonprofit New Orleans Culinary and Cultural Preservation Society, whose mission is to preserve the history and culture of dining and drinking in New Orleans. The T-shirt designs include "Sip for City," "Save The Sazerac" and "Drink in History." They are $20 each.
