Brooks Brothers (365 Canal St., 522-4200; and Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry (333 Canal St., 581-6161; reopened their stores at The Shops at Canal Place after being closed for eight months following Hurricane Katrina. Brooks Brothers sells a range of men's and women's clothing ranging from casual to dressy, and Lee Michaels is a full-service jeweler that sells a range of jewelry items for men and women as well as gifts. Canal Place management says Ann Taylor is scheduled to reopen soon, Kenneth Cole will open in the fall and Saks Fifth Avenue is scheduled to return to the mall in November.

Bring your real or faux fur apparel to Buffalo Exchange (3312 Magazine St., 891-7443; now through Earth Day, April 22, and it will be donated to the Humane Society to be used as bedding for orphaned or injured wildlife. Condition of the fur isn't important since it won't be purchased by Buffalo Exchange or resold. If you want a tax deduction for your donation, you should mail your fur to the Humane Society of the United States (2100 L St. NW, Washington, DC 20037).

Due to a fire that damaged Earthsavers Magazine Street store on March 23, the company has extended hours at its Metairie location (3301 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Lakeside Shopping Center, Metairie, 835-0225) to accommodate customers who usually go to the Uptown store. New hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Customers also can order products on the Web site or place phone orders at the Lakeside location for delivery Uptown. Jean Therapy, which also was damaged in the Magazine Street fire, has temporarily relocated to Mimi (5500 Magazine St., 897-5535) across the street, which is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Customers also can shop at Jean Therapy's store inside Lakeside Shopping Center, which is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Both Earthsavers and Jean Therapy expect their stoes on Magazine Street to reopen by the end of May.

After 34 years in business, Gentlemen's Quarter (232 Royal St., 522-7139) is closing its doors, and most items in the store are 20 to 75 percent off, including women's apparel and accessories, sportswear, jeans and name-brand clothing.

All the products contain StriviFirm™, which was engineered to repair cellular damage in the skin and improve skin smoothness, decrease the depth of wrinkles and increase collagen and elastin. Common Ground will be the beneficiary of this week's special 3 percent Wednesday at Whole Foods Market Arabella Station (5600 Magazine St., 899-9119). The store has been donating 3 percent of its Wednesday sales each week to a different nonprofit group for more than a month. The final week of the program will be Wednesday, April 19, when 3 percent of the proceeds will go to Operation Helping Hands run by Catholic Charities of New Orleans.
