Shopping News, Mandy Blancq and Ginger Kelly recently reopened Aucoin's Gallery (424 Girod St., Mandeville, 985-616-4860), which has been closed since Katrina. The shop features Ginger Kelly glass and jewelry, Carolyn Rivers designs, the Harriet Blum Collection, Ginger Jackson Joyner pottery and prints, "Blue Roof" pins and slates by Lizano Glass, photography by Abby Miller, paintings by Lori Sperier and art by Metal Fusion Works.

Esplanade Ave., Metairie, 885-2383) is now open and offering $1-per-day rentals on all movies, including new releases, a variety of DVDs, classic films, the Criterion Collection, foreign films, kids' movies, independent and cultural films. There's also a "movie star wall" where films are categorized by actor. The business also offers unlimited rentals for $20 month and you can take out three movies at a time. On the first day of rental only, DVDs can be returned and re-rented for $1.
