Eight bands and a dance group formed by students in LSU Health New Orleans schools of medicine, dentistry and allied health professions will perform from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, at the Howlin' Wolf (907 S. Peters St.).
The Student Interest Group for Music and the Arts (SIGMA) is producing the concert to raise money for Students Making It a Little Easier (SMILE), a big buddy program in which LSU medical students are paired with pediatric cancer patients at Children's Hospital New Orleans and go with them to doctor visits and provide support when they are in the hospital. SMILE also hosts parties for patients and their families at Children's Hospital.
The bands performing Friday include Barret's Esophagus, Bowling for Supination, Developmental Groove, Epstein Band Virus, Flu Fighters, Med Zeppelin, Rad Cow Disease and Urethra Franklin. The Diabeats dance group also will perform.
The suggested donation at the door is $10.
